Over Andrew’s 35 year career in the Architectural profession, 19 of those years have been in the specialized areas of Sport and Entertainment Architecture. Andrew was both a Principal with Populous having spent ten years as an Architect and Project Manager on various sport projects throughout Asia and major event bids in Australia, New Zealand and London. More recently Andrew was also a Principal with HKS Sport for four years, acting as Design Manager and Project Director on a number of key projects also in Asia. In between his time with Populous and HKS Sport, Andrew was Client side for a listed property developer in Hong Kong, managing a team of 40 staff to design and deliver non-gaming assets for Galaxy Macau, which included a 3,000 seat theatre and 15,000 seat Arena.
Andrew has accumulated over 20 years of direct design, advisory and project management experience in Sport Architecture. Having worked for two of the largest and most progressive Sport Architecture firms in the world, Andrew is now able to offer a high level of expertise and advisory on Sport Projects on an independent and impartial basis. Andrew’s sport projects have spanned across Asia including Hong Kong, Macau, Beijing, Taipei, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta and Australia.
Andrew developed a significant level of experience working Client side in Macau delivering on an Arena, Convention Centre and Theatre project for a large gaming company. This included from preparing the Client side Design Brief and Operational requirements, to appointing the most qualified consultants, to construction, commissioning and grand opening.
There has been a significant moment towards incorporating sport as a key attraction in developing health and fitness based resorts. This has included the addition of 400m running tracks, Olympic side pools and indoor training area to the traditional spa resorts that focus on wellness and healthy diet. The approach also combines with a sustainable approach to the resort design and philosophical design changes such as replacing landscaping with functional edible gardens.
Andrew spent two years seconded to the Hong Kong Jockey Club to assist the Club assess their current Sha Tin and Happy Valley Racecourses from a master planning, operational and customer experience point of view. Following this period of time in Hong Kong, Andrew went on to design at a conceptual level an number of potential racecourse venues in China, Vietnam, Malaysia and Greece.
At the core of the design process with ADHAEREAM is creating a functional, attractive and sustainable masterplan which takes into consideration minimising the impact of new projects into the site topography and attempting to touch the ground as lightly as possible. Andrew has been developing project master plans for over 35 years and brings a depth of knowledge on how to activate a new development in a sensitive, but profitable, manner.
